About Dr. Raquel Tatar
Dr. Raquel Tatar, PhD MSPH MA (she/her/ela)
Senior Director of Measures & Research – Healthy Minds Innovations
Dr. Raquel Tatar is the Senior Director of Research and Measures at Healthy Minds Innovations, Inc. where she leads the study of well-being. Tatar and her team focus their work both in and outside of the traditional lab through evidence-based interventions and assessments to develop tools to help people achieve holistic levels of well-being to create a kinder, wiser and more compassionate world.
Tatar’s passion for using applied science and meaningful work to help people flourish was the driving force for her to dedicate over a decade exploring the facets of coping with stress, including: proactive coping, misconceptions of coping and their correlates, collective traumas, and longitudinal stressors. Tatar received her Ph.D. from the University of California-Irvine in Health Psychology and Affective Sciences in 2017. Her research broadly focused on emotional coping responses to major life stressors, such as interpersonal stress in couples and collective traumas following terrorist attacks. She also served as the Director of Assessment and Analytics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, honing skills in measurement of student physicians.
Tatar was a featured speaker on the Female Quotient panel at Davos, at Her Future Summit panel by the Global Startup Ecosystem, and on Healthy Minds Live. Born in Stockport, England, raised in São Carlos, Brazil and she now resides in Madison, Wisconsin with her partner and family. One of the greatest joys in her life is being Mom to her adventurous 3 year old, Oliver, who is showing early signs of following in his Mother’s footsteps by conducting his own research study on which bones yield the most kisses by his dog, Daisy.
